Term Limits

It is my firm belief that we should establish term limits on Senators and Representatives of the United States Government. In the time of our forefathers, businesspeople would go to Washington DC and serve 2 terms in Congress. They then returned to their farm or business and allowed someone else to continue the duties of running the nation. As time has developed, having a congressional seat has become a lifetime appointment. Yes, the people must run for Senate every six years and for representative every four years. However, once they get into the seat, if they do not do anything significantly wrong, they are reelected for as long as they choose to be. As you look at TV, you will see some members of Congress 80 or 90 years old. This is just not acceptable. I vow to sponsor a bill to set term limits at two six-year terms for senators and three four-year terms for representatives at the US level. I'll also give you this promise if you elect me as your Senator, whether we can get a term limit bill passed or not, I will only serve 2 terms. That is my promise to you.
