I Stand With Our Police and Sheriffs in Alabama
I 100% stand with our police officers, our sheriffs, our deputies, and other law enforcement officers. I have served in the law enforcement community as a Sheriff's Department helicopter pilot for eight years in Clay County and Randolph County. I know what it's like to have that person die in your lap and I know what it's like to go tell that family that their child is never coming home. So many times, today our officers are stereotyped into being bad people. This simply is not true. We all have been guilty of speeding are getting that ticket that we wish we hadn’t gotten. At the end of the day, we all knew that we were breaking some law or we wouldn't have got a ticket. That is really no reason to hate the police. What we should realize is that in our time of need whether it's an intruder at our home, an accident, a wreck, or some other incident, the officers are the people who come flying to our rescue.
During my time in the law enforcement community, I was also one of three people responsible for the county rodeo. This was a huge community event every year in July. The money was used to buy vests for officers, bicycles for kids at Christmas, vehicle tracking devices for officers out in the darkness of the night, and many, many more items. But more importantly this was an event that thousands of people attended each year to fellowship and socialize.
As you're senator, I will always stand behind our sheriff's police troopers and other law enforcement officers. I will also do everything in my power to fund those organizations so that they can better protect you and me.
